Mariana Almeida, a researcher from BESIDE team, attended the 14th Annual Marine Economics and Policy Research Symposium, held on 3 December 2024 in Galway, Ireland. The event, organised by the Marine Institute and the University of Galway, brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss pressing issues in the marine sector.
Representing WINBIG, a project contributing to the BESIDE platform, Mariana Almeida made a presentation with Hasmik Grigoryan from the University of Galway on the challenges of gender equality in the EU Blue Economy. Their work offered insights into the challenges that women may face in the diverse sectors of Eu Blue Economy
The symposium covered a broad range of topics, including governance issues, community engagement, blue economy analysis, blue carbon, and offshore energy. This multidisciplinary event fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange among participants, underscoring the importance of tackling challenges and opportunities within the marine economy.
